JK Learns Tsunami Disaster Management in Japan

Tokyo Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla (JK) has arrived in Japan today. He went there using the special Presidential Aircraft BBJ-2 departing from Halim Perdanakusuma airbase, Jakarta.  He is accompanied by his wife, Mufidah Jusuf Kalla, the Minister of Human Development and Cultural Affairs Puan Maharani, West Sulawesi Governor Anwar Adnan Saleh and his entourage.

He arrived at the Haneda International Airport, Tokyo on Friday (13/03/2015) at 08.15 am local time. He was greeted by the Indonesian Ambassador in Tokyo, Yusron Ihza Mahendra and a number of Japanese statesmen.

Shortly after his arrival, JK is already scheduled to meet with the chairman of a number of prominent companies such as Toyota Motor Corporation, Mitsui, Tokyo Gas and Inpex. As for the tonight, he is scheduled to have dinner with the former Japanese Prime Minister Fukuda. He will have a meeting on the following day with a number of Japanese statesmen such as the current Japanese Prime minister Shinzo Abe and the Japanese Minister of Foreign Relations, Kishida.

Apart from meeting the aforementioned people, the former Golkar Party chairman will also attend The United Nations Conference on Saturday 14 March 2015 at Sendai International Centre. JK will be the Indonesian representatives to fully attend the Third United National World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (WCDRR).

As a nation who has been hammered by the catastrophic tsunami multiple times, Japan is a great example for Indonesia in terms of its tsunami relief. Vice President Jusuf Kalla sees it as imperative for Indonesia to learn from the country who has been successfully addressing the tsunami issue for years. His visitation to this country will then include discussions with Japanese experts who have mastered issues such as tsunami relief.

JK will also be scheduled to visit the LBG Plant at Chiba to meet a number of Japanese Businessmen. He will head home on the 17th of March 2015. (Akp/Riz)
